In an era when being gay wasn't widely accepted by society as a whole as it is today, Rod Stewart's tale of Georgie, a young gay man and his journey to demise by the hand of bigots was a relative popular hit. The story is set in America, New York/New Jersey where gangs ran the streets at night looking for kicks. Georgie became a victim one night. And a hero.
